In 1976, Chicago-based blues artist Muddy Waters began recording his album Hard Again. It is the first album produced by Johnny Winter. Its official release date is set for 1977. Waters opens the album with the one song that cemented Muddy's place in rock & roll heaven, Mannish Boy, which features Winter's ecstatic 'eah!'s. Hard Again features Muddy Waters' signature blues sound: gruff, raw and full of energy. The album was very well received and is still considered one of Waters' best works. Hard Again reached number 143 on the Billboard 200 chart, which was its first chart position since Fathers and Sons in 1969. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Ethnic or Traditional Folk Recording.

Hard Again features Muddy Waters' hits Mannish Boy, I Want To Be Loved and I Can't Be Satisfied. The album celebrates its 45th anniversary in 2022 and is therefore available as a 45th Anniversary Edition in an edition of 2500 individually numbered copies on solid blue vinyl.
