The Wailers

The Wailers a.k.a. The Fabulous Wailers

The Wailers, often credited as The Fabulous Wailers, were an American rock band from Tacoma, Washington. They became popular around the United States Pacific Northwest around the late 1950s and the start of the 1960s, performing saxophone-driven R&B and Chuck Berry-ish Rock And

THE LENGENDARY WAILERS
It was a cool night in the city by the bay. with the fog billowing through the Golden Gate. to the foot of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the steps of the Maritime Hall, although inside it was another experience altogether. The house had already been warmed up by Northern California's Reggae Angels and the international Michael 'Grammy' Rose. Anticipation was high for the performance of the
legendary Wailers.

The Wailers have traveled many roads on their long journey to the Maritime Hall. Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, the anchoring foundation member of the band, has been there through it all. From the 60's with Lee 'Scratch' Perry's Hippy Boys and the Upsetters, his great accomplishments with Bob Marley. Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, to Bob's solo career as the Wailers' musical director holding the group together after Bob's passing. carrying the flame through musically mentoring Ziggy and Stephen Marley. continuing on even after the tragic loss of his brother, original Wailers drummer, Carlton Barrett. Aston is the cornerstone of the musical family known as the Wailers and it is his bass playing that set the standard for all of the reggae that has followed. Replacing Carlton Barrett was impossible, so they got the next best thing in long time Jimmy Cliff drummer and session player, Mikey 'Boo' Richards, who's heavy hand and pounding foot is probably the only other drummer that could properly accompany and compliment Aston's devastating. cool and deadly bass grooves.
