In the wake of our success with 'King Rockabilly' (CDCHD 777) and 'King Rock 'N' Roll (CDCHD 975) Ace now brings you a third heaped helping of 1950s jivers, strollers and good rockin' groovers from the vaults of King Records. In-demand floorfillers like Donnie Elbert's 'Leona' and 'Believe It Or Not' are comfortably complemented by long-time rock 'n' roll favourites such as Hank Ballard's version of 'Sugaree'. Although the emphasis is on the upbeat, there are also a couple of strollers on board to help dancers get their breath back.

The King catalogue is like the gift that keeps on giving no matter how many fantastic compilations result from its vast repertoire, there never seems to be any shortage of ideas, around the Ace A&R brains trust, for more fabulous packages to complement those already in the company catalogue. Our tape copying trips to King's Nashville HQ continue to give us plenty of permutations of the label's great recordings with which to entertain you and this month we have two more goodies that will leave you happy in heart, if a little empty in pocket. 


"King Rock'n'Roll" brings to CD some of the best up-tempo rockers'n'jivers released on King, or its subsidiary labels Federal and DeLuxe, during the second half of the 1950s and the (very) early 60s.
