Who was/is Umoja I-nity ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more

Band with members from Ghana, Liberia and Trinidad.

Mixture of Afrobeat, Disco, Funk and Caribbean influences.

At the beginning of the 80s Fifi Yawson and some other members of the Ghanaian band Gem Movement moved to the linen metropolis Hanover. There they meet Martin James, a drummer from Trinidad who previously played with the 20th Century Steelband in England.

Thanks to his work as a studio musician, Martin is now well connected in the Hanover music scene and meets sound engineer Thomas Rugel during a recording session. Together with the Ghanese Fifi Yawson, Francis Dansei, Sam Asante and Tom Blay they form the group Umoja i-nity. Christine Clinton and Nyemah George Williams (who both worked with Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba before) as well as the two German Ingo Erlhoff and Jochen Rose join the band.
