(1993 'Blue Rock'It') (69:55/10) Das musikalische Vermächtnis einer der faszinierendsten und zurückhaltendsten Persönlichkeiten des Blues. Seit den 50er Jahren arbeitete er als Gitarrist für nahezu alle Größen des Blues in Chicago, mit Little Walter, Junior Wells, Muddy Waters und Sonny Boy Williamson. Später ließ er sich an der Westküste nieder - wo er im Juni '93 vollkommen überraschend starb. Einen Namen machte er sich auch durch seine Mitwirkung in den wegweisenden Bands von James Cotton Ende der 60er Jahre und seine häufigen Sessionauftritte im Antone's Nightclub in Austin, Texas. Studioaufnahmen, die im April '93 begonnen wurden, konnten nicht zu Ende gebracht werden; daher wurden einige Livetitel von der Breminale '93 hinzugefügt. Als Bonus gibt es noch ein ausführliches Radiointerview aus Kanada / since the early fifties when he started to work with the greatest Chicago bluesmen, Luther has been regarded as an influential guitar stylist, and a beautiful person. Until his untimely death in June '93 he was living in Richmond, California where he moved in the early '70s. Only in April '93 Patrick Ford had started recording a new studio album on Luther that was not completed by the time of his death. Live takes from the Breminale '93 were added, as well as a Canadian radio interview with Luther. This is the musical legacy of one of the finest gentlemen of the blues.
