(2003 'Private Music') (48:12/12)
In 1967 Howard Tate released his debut 'Get It While You Can'. Although not a best seller, this album is regarded one of the classics of 1960s soul. After two more LPs that also didn't sell well, Howard Tate disappeared into obscurity. On New Year's Day 2001 he ran into a buddy from the old days. Producer Jerry Ragovoy got back in touch with Tate. In July of that year he made his first live appearance in NYC after 30 years. And now we got this new release, once again produced by Ragovoy. Amazing, but Tate's voice is still of the same quality. Maybe the initial fascination of 1960s soul is not there anymore. But otherwise there's nothing to complain about. 'Rediscovered' is a cool soul album, carefully produced and full of new material ... Appreciated!
