It takes something really special to catch the ear of worldlywise record company executives and jaded music journalists. But that's exactly what SUSAN & THE SURFTONES did with their very first recordings. Originally only intended for sale at their live gigs, those tapes were rapidly snapped up by Gee-Dee Music and became SUSAN & THE SURFTONES' first CD, "Without A Word" (Gee-Dee CD 270119). Such was the acclaim for this release that Gee-Dee had the band return to the studios to deliver another album as soon as possible, and here it is!

'Thunderbeach' finds guitarist Susan Yasinski leading The Surftones on another exciting trip around the world of instrumental rock music. There are examples of original '60s surf: Baja (The Astronauts) and the '80s surf revival: Point Conception (The Surf Raiders), timeless international hits: Tequila (The Champs) and Telstar (The Tornados), and classic American rock instrumentals: Wild Weekend (The Rockin' Rebels) and Jack The Ripper (Link Wray). With an unusual instrumental version of The Beatles' This Boy and some fine original material, '"Thunderbeach' is a potent mix. You have been warned, set this album playing and prepare for some seriously good entertainment!

Susan & The Surf Tones

Susan L. Yasinski formed the Surf-Tones in 1993 after ten years as a guitarist in various bands around the New York area. Her early influences were the Beatles, The Ventures and the young Elvis Presley.

Being already named "a femme reverbed instro wiz" by Surf-music authority John Blair in Discoveries Oct. 95, Susan not only plays a great surf-axe but also writes her own material.
