(2002 'Severn') (57:50/13) Sugar Ray Norcia und seine Band schreiben die Geschichte des Vorgänger-Albums fort! Mit dem neuen Gitaristen 'Monster' Mike Welch kommen neue Ideen ins Spiel. Mike forciert seinen Anteil mit starken Licks und expressiven Soli; er spielt bissig und erinnert, wenn man ihn überhaupt vergleichen will, an Ronnie Earl in seinen besten, wilden Tagen. Für mich ist diese Combo mit einem der besten weißen Sänger und einer traumhaft sicheren Rhythm Section die vielleicht beste auf diesem Sektor zur Zeit, mal abgesehen von den Mighty Flyers. In meinen Augen und Ohren die legitimen Nachfolger jener Szene, die sich an den alten T-Birds oder Broadcasters kaum satt hören konnte. Wiederum erwähnenswert der angenehme, alles andere als glatte Klang der Aufnahmen. Fünf Sterne / this band is continuing the story of success. 'Monster' Mike Welch, the guitar player, is adding some extra power to the music. He's throwing in great guitar licks, and he performs expressive solos. Musicalwise, this band stands in the tradition of early T-Birds and the Broadcasters. They are the best in their territory, on the same level as the Mighty Flyers. Sugar Ray's a soulful harmonica player who loves minor tunes. Mike Welch turns out to be an energetic player, and the ryhthm, section is one of the best you can find. Highly recommended!
