(2002 'Music Maker') (49:46/13) Wer glaubt, traditioneller akustischer Blues könne nicht durch moderne Mixtechniken und Samples ansprechend aufbereitet werden, in gewisser Weise 'entstaubt' werden, der irrt. Der junge Produzent Sol nahm Versatzstücke einzelner 'Musicmaker'-Künstler und bastelte geschickt mit dezenten Grooves und einigen Overdubs. So steuert 'Cool' John Ferguson einige nahezu psychedelische Gitarreneinwürfe. Sol besitzt ein ausgezeichnetes Gespür für das Wesentlich; so klingt diese Produktion wie aus einem Guss und lässt ahnen, welche Möglichkeiten moderne Produktionstechniken auch für den Blues bieten. Es macht schlichtweg Spass, die gelungene Kombination aus 'Alt-trifft-Jung' zu hören / excellent re-mix album. Although 're-mix' doesn't Sol's prodution justice. The young producer took pieces of performances, added some extra bass and drums, or some lead guitar ('Cool' John Ferguson) and mixed it down in a very cool way. Acoustic blues, vocal parts and grooves. Compared to other rather 'brutal' re-mixes, this set of blues, samples and grooves sounds just fine and might produce some extra interest in the blues. I like it a lot.
