JSP Records started in 1977 bringing the best American Blues artists to England for concerts and tours. At that time they found many of these wonderful musicians without any recording contract which was the reason to start a label. Next step in the founding of JSP was recording sessions. Recording studios in America and also in London were used to record Jazz, Zydeco, Roots and Soul music.

Early on, they also started working with the man who pioneered the remastering and 'cleaning up' vintage recordings, John R. T. Davies. This led JSP to become one of the leading reissue labels. It was this that helped them to arouse the reissue market in 1999 when they started the concept of high quality but reasonably priced box sets of 'complete recording' of individual artists or key sessions.

Today their catalog of original recordings includes important albums by acts such as:

Buddy Guy, Professor Longhair, Lucky Peterson, Jimmy Witherspoon, Roy Gaines and so many more Jazz, Blues and Roots which also include their completely unique series of box sets devoted to Greek Rembetika and other Balkan music.
