(2003 'Severn') (49:38/11) Neues, ganz ausgezeichnetes Album! Tad zählt zu jener kleinen Handvoll Weißer, die es verstehen, Soul zu singen. Otis Clay sagt: 'Wenn Tad mal stirbt, kommt er in den Soul-Himmel ... einen Ort, für nur ganz Wenige reserviert.' Was für ein Kompliment! Seit seinen Tagen in den Bluebirds von Dave Specter hat sich Tad weiter entwickelt. Sein Stimme ist bärenstark, wandelbar und klingt stets überzeugend. Diese Produktion glänzt jedoch auch durch die Mitwirkung von Gitarrist Alex Schultz, dessen filigrane bis bissige Einwürfe die nötige Würze liefern, wie bei 'Woman Trouble', einem wunderbaren langsamen Soul/Blues. Hab selten ein derart gelungenes Album von einem weißen Sänger gehört! Sehr zu empfehlen /new, fantastic release! Tad belongs to that small minority of whites that know how to sing soul music. Otis Clay says: 'When Tad Robinson dies, he's going to soul heaven ... a place reserved for a very few people.' What a compliment! Since working with Dave Specter's Bluebirds in the early '90s Tad has developed a lot, in technique and feel. His vocals have matured. He sounds like the real deal and knows how to handle up-tempo numbers, and soulful ballads equally well. A special 'thank you' must go out to Alex Schultz. The guitar player's adding that certain grit and dirt with his sometimes crying and wailing, sometimes mourning guitar. I can not remember that I digged a white soul album as much as I love Tad's new one. Highly recommended.
