From an 87 acre farm deep in Texas has come Moon Mullican, who has grown to be one of the all time greats in folk music history.
When Moon was but eight years of age, his father brought a pump-organ to the farm house. It wasn't long before Moon was developing his distinctive two finger, right hand style which won him fame as the 'King Of The Hillbilly Piano Players'. For a time he provided music for revival meetings, but the firm hand of his father one day taught him that the song 'St. Louis Blues- was not the proper thing with which to start a prayer meeting.
But folks took to his easy-going style at the piano and one afternoon, in a cafe in Lufkin, Texas he learned he could make more money playing and singing the song people liked than he could working on farm. The big city of Houston beckoned an there he watched, listened and develope his own style to gain greater appeal wit the public. Starting with other leadin singer groups, he later developed his ow band and traveled throughout Texas an Louisiana.
