Was der Mutter vorbehalten blieb, die Tochter hat`s geschafft. Reba McEntire gehört schon seit ein paar Jahren zu jenem großen Dreigestirn „Ricky Skaggs, Reba McEntire, George Strait“, das stellvertretend für eine ganze Reihe junger, talentierter Stars die sogenannten „Traditionalisten“ repräsentiert. Es sind Künstler, die auf der Tradition aufbauend eine moderne Country Music produzieren und dabei ihre volle Identität bewahren. Naturmusik ist angesagt und das Country-Feeling ist präsent. Und Reba McEntire macht kompromisslose Country Music. Von Red Steagall war sie 1974 entdeckt worden, 1975 hatten sie ihren ersten Plattenvertrag bei Mercury, doch erst der Wechsel zu MCA machte aus ihr einen Superstar. 1984, 1985, 1986 und 1987 wurde sie von der CMA zur besten Sängerin des Jahres gewählt.
