Who was/is Ernie Maresca ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
Ernie Maresca,
born on April 21, 1939, reached the Top Ten on Seville in 1962 with 'Shout Shout (Knock Yourself Out)', which has claims to being one of the first punk rock records. The chaotic cacophony of the disc contained echoes of Dion, for whom Maresca had written 'Runaround Sue', The Wanderer' and others. A minor league figure in the doo-wop revival of the early Sixties, he also provided songs for the Belmonts (`No One Knows', 'Come On Little Angel'), the Regents (`Runaround), Nino and the Ebbtides, the Five Discs, the Del-Satins and other New York groups. The Del-Satins, in return, backed him on 'Shout Shout' and worked with Dion on his solo records for Laurie. In the Seventies, Maresca moved to an executive post with Laurie.
