Monte Mead – Cape Canaveral
Monte Mead was from Odessa, Texas. He cut Cape Canaveral b/w The Jelly Bean King at the Norman Petty Studios in Lubbock, Texas, in 1959. Some of Norman Petty's studio musicians were on the session, including his wife Vi Petty on piano, Jack Smith on guitar, and Jerry Allison of The Crickets on drums. The recording was issued on the local Fortune label, a Century Records subsidiary, as Fortune D6-1001, Monte Mead's only release.
