Tara Linda: Tortilla Western Serenade
(2010/Physalia) 12 tracks (49:41), digipack. CD comes with a special booklet of inspired stories and artwork for each song. American roots music served in Tex-Mex style and sounds like a great adaption between Caro Emerald and Los Lobos, influenced by the land and stories of the American Southwest, blends Spaghetti Western, Tex-Mex, and rock. Wayward and whipsmart, the album offers both musical depth and whimsy. Tara Linda (accordion, vocals, guitar, pan flute, percussion) is accompanied here by some of the best musicians of its genre: Legendary, multiple Grammy winner Flaco Jiménez on accordion; 2010 Grammy winner Max Baca (bajo sexto) of Los Texmaniacs; Al Gomez (trumpet) of the West Side Horns; Az Samad (guitar); Sean Rogers (bass); Rafael Herrera (drums/percussion); Rene Garcia (trombone); Michael Ramos (drums, keyboard); Carlos Rosas (violin); Henry Gomez (vihuela); Pedro Hernandez (guitarron); David Gonzales (guitar); Gabriel Zavala (bass); and Grammy winner Bobby Flores (steel guitar, violin, viola).
