Gordon Lightfoot, a Canadian folk country poet, first roamed the bars and clubs as a bard in his homeland. He became famous and popular in the USA when singers like Marty Robbins and George Hamilton IV made the Lightfoot compositions "Ribbon Of Darkness", "Steel Rail Blues", "Early Morning Rain" and "F or Loving Me" hits. Lightfoot himself was considered an insider tip as a singer for a long time. Only a change of company, combined with a change of musical arrangement, brought him to the international charts. On the whole, however, Lightfoot has remained more of an L.P. artist to this day. His early L.P.s for United Artists are still the most beautiful and valuable for the friend of CountryMusic due to the small ensembles with two guitars and bass. Gordon Lightfoot was influenced by Pete Seeger, Bob Gibson and the duo "Ian & Sylvia". His first records were made in the early 1960s for Chateau Records, recordings that have long since become one of the most sought-after collectors' items.
