Lester Lanin & His Orchestra: In The Mood For Dance - Das Schönste Von Damals (CD)
Nathaniel Lester Lanin (26.8.1907 - 27.10.2004) already put together a band in 1927, with which he made dance music in the villas of the wealthy society of Philadelphia. In 1930 he was engaged to play at one of Barbara Hutton's galas. This caused a sensation in the New York press, so that soon he could hardly resist the many inquiries. It happened that he employed several orchestras under his name at the same time. His strict tempo dancing was obligatory in the upper class, occasional outbursts in brilliant Dixieland were received all the more enthusiastically. His fame grew with the introduction of the long-playing record, two of which can be heard here in their entirety and one almost in its entirety. He was active until the 1990s and left behind numerous records, some of which were released on CD.
