Die Jordanaires, 1948 in Springfield/ Missouri gegründet, begannen als Barbershop- und Spiritual-Quartet. Der Schwerpunkt ihrer Tourneen waren Tennessee und die benachbarten Bundesstaaten. Durch ihre Auftritte an der Grand Ole Opry kamen sie mit dem Studio-betrieb von Nashville in Kontakt und brachten es innerhalb weniger Jahre zum Status des ,Besten Backup-Quartetts“. Nicht nur von Country Stars wie Johnny Cash oder Hank Snow wurden sie für Aufnahmesessions engagiert, sondern auch auf den Platten von Pop-Größen wie Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Tommy Sands, Johnny Ray und Tab Hunter sind die Jordanaires zu hören. Ja, es gibt kaum einen bekannten Star der populären Musikszene, der nicht mindestens ein- mal mit den Jordanaires gearbeitet hätte.

Mit ihren Solo- Platten waren die Jordanaires allerdings nie erfolgreich.
