Catching the tail-end of the rock instrumental boom, Peter Jay & The Jaywalkers were launched with one of Joe Meek's most memorable productions, 'Can Can '62', a Top 40 hit which dominated the festive party season that year. Subsequently, The Jaywalkers issued a string of commendalbe 45s, evolving their instro sound to absorb American R&B while also dabbling in vocal covers from the Motown stable. Between 1962 and 1965, the band attracted a huge and loyal following, with a fan club numbering over 50,000. For the first time, Jaywalkin' boasts all of their 45s for Decca and Piccadilly, remastered from the original tapes, while the expansive booklet contains lenghy sleeve-notes and rare memorabilia with input from Peter Jay himself.
