Without a doubt Michael Mann aka Hollywood Fats is one of the most significant blues guitarists of his generation. Born in 1954, he began playing the guitar at the age of ten. Colleagues remember how his mother took the barely fourteen-year-old to South Los Angeles for jams every evening. He played with many well-known blues greats before founding his Hollywood Fats Band in 1974. The '80s were quite chaotic for Fats. He toured with various pickup bands until he joined the Blasters at the beginning of 1986. At the end of the year he died at the age of only 32.

These recordings, made one year before his untimely death, show him in a playful mood, accompanied by the Paladins, a trio little known outside California at the time. Musically it's first class; the sound, though is less fun and has hardly any professional sound quality. A difficult decision. Do you need this album as a Hollywood Fats fan, or not ?!
