The Greaseland Studios in San José, California, have been developing into the hotspot of the West Coast blues scene for years. What 'Kid' Anderson produces there in his living room studio has class! And class owns Franck's new album. Since his CrossCut album (CCD11077, 2001) he has been developing constantly. His guitar playing is sheer madness, his songs (all originals!) are fantastic. Plus one of the best drummers, June Core, and the magician himself, 'The Kid', who plays bass and piano.
12 new numbers on CD#1 plus a bonus CD (45:32) with eight blues-infused stories Franck is telling about Sonny Rhodes, Charlie Musselwhite, Nick Gravenites, Tim Kaihatsu, Ike Turner and many others. Absolutely cool and exciting!
Conclusion: A great album from one of the Greats and an underestimated Bluesman, who knows and plays 'the real shit'.
