Schon in den 60er Jahren schrieb siefür MCA, kam dann nach einer ersten Single bei NormanRecords zu Kapp. Aber erst nach einem Vertrag bei Columbia stellten sich die ersten Hits ein. Doch nach dem großenErfolg mit dem „Teddy Bear Song“ fehlten die Follow-Ups.Barbara Fairchild blieb zwar noch in den Charts präsent,aber irgendwie verlor dann auch Columbia die Geduld.Anfang der 80er Jahre tauchte Barbara Fairchild dannnochmals bei Paid Records auf, kam in die Hit Parade, sangmit Billy Walker im Duett, aber das war's dann auch. AlsKomponistin schrieb sie Hits für Liz Anderson, LorettaLynn und viele andere.
