The acoustic recordings included in this set, almost all of which were made solo (with the exception of sporadic appearances by Danny Kalb, Ramblin' Jack Elliott and Jim Kwekin), essentially cover the first five years of Bob Dylan's career:

1st CD contains recordings made between February and March 1961 at Bob and Sid Gleason's home in New Jersey (the so-called "East Orange Tape," about 25 minutes of material consisting mostly of Woody Guthrie covers), as well as four tracks from the May 6, '61 performance at the Indian Neck Folk Festival;
2nd CD includes a July 29, '61 performance at Riverside Church, broadcast at the time by radio station WRVR-FM on the Saturday Of Folk Music program; two concerts in September '61 at the Gaslight Cafe' and Gerdes Folk City in New York; and two tracks recorded in the studio of radio station WNYC on October 29 of the same year;
3rd CD: the performance on November 4, 1961 at Carnegie Chapter Hall in New York (with original songs, but also covers of Guthrie, Bessie Smith, Leadbelly, Lord Buckley and traditional songs);
4th CD: the recordings made on December 21, '61 at the home of Bonnie Beacher;
5th CD: a reproduction of the Cynthia Gooding Show radio broadcast from the WBAI radio studios in New York on January 13, 1962;
6th CD: recordings made at the same station in May and October 1962;
7th CD: recordings made in April and February 1963 at the Studs Terkel Wax Museum? in Chicago and at the WBAI studios;
8th CD: radio and television recording for WNYC's Oscar Brand Show in New York (March '63), Quest Canada CBC-TV (Feb. 1, '64), WBC TV (Folk Songs And More Folk Songs, May 1963), the Steve Allen Show (Feb. 25, '64) and ABC TV's Les Crane Show (Feb. 17, '65);
9th CD an acoustic performance on May 7, 1965 at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester;
10th CD: a recording made on June 19, 1965 at the BBC radio studios in Shepherd's Bush, London; at this time Dylan played exclusively live songs he had written that would later go down in the history of pop music

Bob Dylan is one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the 20th century whose career began in the early 1960s with songs that chronicled social issues like war and civil rights.

Folk Rock singer-songwriter Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941, in Duluth, Minnesota. While attending college, he began performing folk and country songs, taking the name 'Bob Dylan', and in the fall of 1960 he quit studying to move to Greenwich Village, the bohemian side of New York. In 1961 Dylan signed his first recording contract and emerged as one of the most original and influential voices in the history of American popular music. Dylan wrote hit songs that mirrored the emotional atmosphere of the youth movement at the time, signs that the youth could take over and understand: 'The Times They Are Changing,' Blowin' In The Wind,' 'Too Many Mornings,' and countless others. Songs like 'Mr. Tambourine Man,' 'Like A Rolling Stone,' 'Rainy Day Women,' and 'Blonde On Blonde' were generated, the latter was the first vinyl double album in Rock history. Dylan took an 8-year time-out after he had a terrible motorcycle accident in 1966 to have a tremendous comeback in 1974.

Showing no signs of slowing down, Dylan has continued to tour in recent years, and released studio albums including Together Through Life (2009), Tempest (2012), Shadows in the Night (2015) and Fallen Angels (2016). The legendary singer-songwriter has received Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe awards, as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Nobel Prize for Literature 2016.
