American drummer John "Drumbo" French with his brand new album on Proper. "City Of Refuge" is bluesy, melodic and emotional. In the tradition of the Magic Band, with whom he supported Captain Beefheart in the past and recorded, among others, the legendary "Trout Mask Replica" album. The list of guest musicians reads accordingly like a Magic Band revival: Mark Boston (aka Rockette Morton), Bill Harkleroad (aka Zoot Horn Rollo) and Greg Davidson (aka Ella Guru) all appear on "City Of Refuge".
