John Blues Boyd was born in 1945 in Greendale, Mississippi, and picked cotton in the fields at the age of eight. At fifteen he was driven out of town by the Klan and joined the Dr. Kings Freedom March at sixteen. It was obvious that his life was at stake here. A life that witnessed the struggle and oppression of African Americans in the dark days of Jim Crow.

This is a great record by a man who should be considered a national treasure and hopefully this record will contribute to that, but the magic could only happen with the musical brilliance of Kid Andersen.
