geb. 21. 2. 1942 in Lubbock - Texas Record Labels: Columbia, Casablanca, MCA Erster Hit: Whoever Finds This, I Love You (1970) Erster No. 1 Hit: Baby Don`t Get Hooked On Me (1972) Mac Davis wurde zunächst als Texter und Komponist bekannt mit Titeln wie ,In The Ghetto“ oder ,Don”t Cry Daddy, die durch Elvis Presley zu großen Hits wurden. 1970 unterschrieb Mac Davis dann einen Vertrag bei Columbia und sang von da an seine Songs selbst. Durch die 70er Jahre hindurch schaffte er auch immer wieder respektable Positionen in den Country Charts. Seinen größten Erfolg verbuchte er allerdings in der Pop Hit Parade. Dort schaffte er 1972 einen No. 1 Hit mit „Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me“ und erhielt dafür noch eine Goldene Schallplatte. Obwohl Mac Davis immer und überall mitmischte, hat er dennoch weder im Pop-Lager noch in der Country Szene so richtig Fuß fassen können. Er ist ein Wanderer zwischen den Welten geblieben. Auch wenn er sich immer wieder selbst als Country Sänger bezeichnet hat, die Fans haben ihm zu oft das nötige Feeling abgesprochen."
