Zentrale Figur der amerikanischen weißen Blues-Szene. Geboren am17.12. 1941 in Chicago, lernte sein Gitarrenspiel direkt von Leuten wie Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Buddy Guy und Junior Wells. In seiner Gruppe Butterfield Blues Band spielten zeitweise Spitzenmusiker wie Elvin Bishop und Mike Bloomfield. 1965 erschien die erste LP „The Paul Butterfield Blues Band“. Gemeinsam mit Muddy Waters nahm er ebenfalls Schall- platten auf. Er gehört zu den wenigen weißen Musikern, die von den echten Bluesmusikern voll akzeptiert werden. Und aus seiner Gruppe gingen viele neue Bands hervor, die in seinem Stil weiter- machten ~ teilweise allerdings erfolgreicher. 1972 stellte er eine neue Band zusammen, die er hoffnungsvoll Better Days nannte. Die mit dieser Gruppe 1973 eingespielte Platte ist heute eine der überzeugendsten des neuen Blues-Rock. Original Presse-Info: WEA Music GmbH
