Geboren am 12.1.1945 in Glasgow, war Maggie Bell als Sängerin der schottischen Gruppe „Stone the Crows' eine der wenigen legendären Acts in England. Bei jedem Festival in Europa gehörte sie von 1969 bis 1973 zu den Attraktionen. Ihr ausdrucksstarker Bluesgesang und die tief- empfundenen Gefühle trugen ihr diesen Ruf ein. Im Frühjahr 1973 verließ die ehemalige Textilarbeiterin und Dekorateurin die Gruppe und strebte eine Solokarriere an. „Queen of the Night' war Anfang 1974 die erste LP, die Maggie Bell als Solistin vor allem in den USA berühmt machte.
