Who was/is P.P. Arnold ? - CDs, Vinyl LPs, DVD and more
P. P. Arnold, born in 1946 in Los Angeles, arrived in Britain as a member of the Ikettes — the backing group for Ike and Tina Turner — in 1966. She decided to stay and after work-ing as a session singer signed with Andrew Oldham's Imme-diate label. Her impassioned version of Cat Stevens'The First Cut Is The Deepest' was a Top Twenty hit in Britain in 1967 but further chart success eluded her — though not her backing group, the Nice — despite an album, Kafunta, produced by Mick Jagger and Steve Marriott. She appeared in Catch My Soul in 1969 and Jesus Christ Superstar in 1970 before returning to session singing.
